Even the traffic signals are being consumed by the snow.

At 2260 meters the temperature was -10, winds were 30-50 KPH from the E. At 1650 meters the temperature was -5, 18 cm of new snow fell overnight with 20 cm in the past 24 hours. In the valley it is -6.

For the forecast we can expect unsettled conditions for today as the low is moving on shore  and a weak ridge  is building for Monday afternoon.  Another small frontal band should bring snow to the area for Christmas. The trend for the week is much drier with sunny periods for Thursday and Friday. So for todays quesstimates 3-5 cm today 5-8 cm for Monday morning Dry Monday 4-6 cm Tuesday in the afternoon, 3-5 for Wednesday, then drier for the rest of the week.

3 more avalanche fatalities near St Anton Austria, its hard to get any official information.
An Avalanche hit St.Anton at 1:30pm yesterday (Saturday) Two people suffocated in the crush of snow and ice, and two others were taken to hospitals by helicopter with life-threatening injuries. An american snowboarder is still missing. 
Later in the day another avalanche in the south-western province of Vorarlberg killed one skier and critically injured two others... 

The Avalanche warning was at 4: heavy snowfalls, strong winds and subsequent mild temperatures made snow cover unstable and prone to breaking away.
