November 16, 2013

Early November 16, 2013 Opening Day on Whistler Mountain. -9 as of 06:00 Hrs. Snow guns are on. Sunshine for today with some lingering low level clouds which should dissipate.

Crowd has gathered at the bottom of the Whistler Gondola. Some low clouds in the valley.

November 13, 2013, Lots of cloud but a nice sunny day in the valley.

Glad my group did Gondola Evac Training on Thursday. It was much nicer than Friday.

Strong winds expected along the coast. Dry cold air for today with some cloudy periods .

Weather observations from November 16, 2013, taken at 07:00 Hrs.

2180 Meters  -9  Winds 20-30 KPH from the ESE
1835 Meters  -9  Winds   5-10 KPH from the W
1650 Meters  -7   5 cm of new snow Base 60 cm
660   Meters  -1   2 mm recorded there yesterday

For the forecast the Northwest flow aloft has left snow in its wake with a drier cooler day. Unfortunately most of the moisture yesterday went South with 45 cm being recorded at Mt Baker.
We will see some clouds develop later this am with a chance of light flurries later today. Sunday is also looking mostly cloudy and still influenced by a moist Northwest Flow.  Westerly flow, will bring the possibility of 5-8 cm of snow by Monday. Tuesday will usher in an upper level ridge bringing unsettled conditions to our area for the remainder of the week.  Not looking good for natural snow but the temperatures are looking decent for snow making. FL will hover around 500-1000 meters for the next few days dropping to surface again by Wednesday.
