November 18, 2013

Monday November 18, 2013- Broken cloud, windy, -5,  presently not snowing. 07:30 Hrs

Cool cloudy day Sunday November 17Th. Looking better just below tree line every day.

A brief break around 16:00 hours Sunday afternoon.

Dry cool weather forecasted for Wednesday. FL to valley.

As of 06:00 hrs this 18Th day of November, observations were:
2180 meters  -6.5, Winds 40-60 KPH from the SSW
1835 meters  -5.5, Winds 15-45 KPH from the WSW
1650 meters  -3, 1-2 cm of new snow, 7cm 24 Hrs, Base 67 cm Wind at plot
660 meters  -1, 1.8 mm of precip yesterday.

For the forecast expect light snow above 1000 meters today.  A warm air mass with a south westerly flow circulating from a low pressure system South West of Vancouver Island brings our weather for today.  This air mass is bringing more precipitation to our Southern Neighbours. A broad upper level trough will pass as the low moves eastward bringing unsettled conditions for Tuesday. A cool upper level ridge will bring the freezing level to the valley with sunshine for the remainder of the week. As of now the risk of a pineapple express for the weekend is not in the equation, but 144 hours is a long way off. Freezing levels are expected to rise to 3500 meters by Saturday with a mix of sun and cloud. We could receive 4-6 cm of snow by tomorrow morning but it  may be less.

May be drier than the forecast is showing. There is a fairly dry area moving towards us.

Snowing Sunday when this image was taken.

Clouds were moving quickly yesterday.

Long range forecast is calling for dry and warm conditions for the weekend. Lets hope the moisture avoids our zone, some models a few days ago were suggesting a pineapple express, no thanks!!
