First light Saturday morning, in a period of 3 hours the lake went from this to:

This!!

This cleared area went  from an ice surface to a swimming hole.

Even with +7degree temperatures the ice was holding on over Howe Sound.

Morning weather observations for Sunday, December 15, 2013; at 06:00 hrs.

1860 meters        -3, winds were 25-45 KPH from the S
1835 meters        -2, winds were 15-50 KPH from the S

1550 meters    +1.5, trace of new snow, 5cm yesterday, Base 58 cm
660 meters       +4, Valley Temp, 5.6 mm of precipitation yesterday

For the forecast expect mostly cloudy skies for today with a strong westerly flow. A weak cold front associated with a moist air mass will bring us snow flurries. Monday is looking unsettled as a weak high pressure aloft builds and moves through our area with the occasional snow flurry expected. Tuesday will see a front move through with light amounts of snow. Wednesday is looking unsettled with some clearing later in the day. Thursday is looking like a nice day. More on that as we get closer.
Guesstimates: Today 1-2 cm, Monday Trace amounts, Tuesday 3-5 cm by Wednesday morning.
Freezing level should drop to 1000 meters by tomorrow, rise slightly for Tuesday and go to surface for Thursday.

Certainly did not nail it yesterday. Still fairly dry last night and today.
