December 17, 2013

Early Monday morning, those dots in the lower part of the picture are rocks, a skiff of water over the ice. Low level cloud was moist and thick.

It was a black and white day, December 16, 2013. Glaciers are certainly uninviting.

Some clearing way off to the South of our zone.

A very rimed Tusk!!

For the forecast today, a weak front moves through the zone bringing light snow this afternoon into Wednesday afternoon. Freezing levels will drop as an associated cool trough moves through Wednesday morning. Thursday is looking dry with unsettled weather. Thursday evening will usher in a warm front with some light snowfall into Friday morning.  Freezing levels will rise slowly to 1100 meters on Friday with unsettled conditions. Saturday is looking like another cloudy day with more stratus clouds. More on that in future posts. Guesstimates: 3-5 cm by Wednesday morning; 1-3 cm on Wednesday; Flurries on Thursday; 3-5 cm by Friday morning. I am being optimistic!! Full moon today!

A break to the North, yesterday afternoon.

Lots of cloud but no precipitation! I am beginning to dislike stratus cloud. Good looking clouds into the interior and Northern regions. Image from yesterday.
