January 30, 2014

First light yesterday morning looking North.

Looking South West, started out as a grey day.

    Much nicer in the afternoon.

Front to the North at the end of the day.

    Sunset January 29, 2014.

1550 meters      -4, Trace of new snow, Base 95 cm
  660 meters       0, Valley Temp

For the forecast, an upper trough is passing through our zone today. Friday should see unsettled weather with mainly sunny skies as a weak upper ridge builds.  Saturday morning is still looking mostly sunny prior to clouds moving in during the afternoon as a very weak dry disturbance is forecasted to arrive into Sunday with unsettled conditions. There is a chance the short wave trough could give us 1-2 cm as it brushes by our zone Sunday afternoon. Still some disagreement on weather a cold strong surface high builds for early next week, but is likely. Freezing levels will be below surface with negative values in the teens at mid mountain. Guesstimate for today is 1 to 2 cm.

Still looking like ideal race conditions for the Peak to Valley. -9 at the top of the course -6 mid mountain and -2 in the valley.

Lots of cloud to the South of us, great afternoon yesterday.

The big picture not looking to promising.
