May 8, 2014

Early yesterday morning, as the day progressed the clouds increased.

At 16:30 there were lots of clouds in our zone.

Looking North there were some dark clouds hanging around.

Sunset May 7, 2014. Most of the clouds dissipated by the end of the day.

Bears are out and about near the ski runs.

Nasty cloud, surprised it did not loose some of that moisture.

For the forecast, a cold front associated with a Southwest flow is moving into our area later today, expect high cloud this morning, dropping and increasing as the day progresses with showers this afternoon and light snow above 1500 meters this evening. Freezing levels should drop from 2200 meters to 1600 meters with the approach of the cold front. An upper trough forms for Friday with light precipitation expected in the morning and showers in the afternoon. Saturday is looking unsettled as a Northwest flow aloft and ridging begins to influence our area. The upper ridge builds for Sunday bringing unsettled weather and sunny breaks. This pattern continues into next week, with unsettled weather, lots of snow around to create convective cloud activity as temperatures will be above normal values. Guesstimates: 2-4 cm in the alpine by Friday morning, 3-5 cm in the upper elevations Friday morning. Freezing levels will drop for tonight into Friday then slowly rise from 2400 meters on Saturday to 3400 meters by Tuesday.

As of 07:30 hours we have high overcast and unlimited visibility.

Image from this morning, the clouds are heading our way!!

Convective clouds at mountain tops yesterday around 13:00 Hrs.

    Big picture from yesterday afternoon.

Strong moist west flow aloft will pass through on Friday with some showers in the forecast.
