   An avalanche in Pithoragarh, India has claimed 2 Nepalis, 1 missing-story in article section. Net Pic

    Locally, Na Sc produced Sz 1 thin moist slabs, snowballing observed yesterday.


   YESTERDAY:

    Tuesday morning March 14, 2017. Raining at 1250 meters.

    Snow line was at 1550 meters in the morning.

    08:00 hrs Tuesday morning.

    Snowing at 10:10 Tuesday morning.

   14:30 Hrs Tuesday afternoon.

   Being spared in a way!! Jet stream has been helping us avoid a washout.

   A very warm air mass.

   As of 07:00 Hrs this amwe have broken cloud ans unlimited visibility.


FORECAST:

A weak low will move through our zone today in a Southwest flow aloft. The majoity of the precipitation is luckily heading south of our zone as the jet stream moves further south. We can expect overcast conditions this am with a few showers, becoming unsettled by this afternoon with a mix of sun and cloud. The FL will spike at around 1400 meters today, then will slowly drop to around 900 meters by this evening. An upper level trough will push through tonight into Thursday with light precipitaion, with hopefully some moderate/heavy snow in the alpine by Thursday night. A series of frontal bands will continue to bring overcast conditions with variable precipitation amounts into Sunday. A high pressure should gain some strength either Sunday or Monday.
Guesstimates: 10-15 cm by Thursday morning, 15-40 cm by Friday morning, 10-15 cm by Saturday morning.
