    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    An avalanche on Vilyuchinsky Volcano has claimed two sledders, story in articles below.  Net Pic

    Sluff out of Half Way House, did not make it to the traverse.

    Old Fx line on Fissile in the main chute.

    Locally, Sz 1 Sa, --Xc Sz 2-2.5 (cornice control). In the corridor Sz 1-2 Solar point releases.
    New Na cornice releases still being observed in the backcountry.


    YESTERDAY:

    Tuesday morning April 11, 2017.

    Lots of cloud but a nice day.

    Convective cloud development in the morning.

    There was an assault on the back country.

    Tuesday morning.

    Launching it.

    Great snow in the am.

    Big picture Tuesday afternoon.

    Most steep lee terrain was sloughing.

    There was a lot of cloud around for most of the day.

    Darker to the South at days end.


Weather Observations for April 12, 2017 taken at 06:00 Hours.

2240 meters      -6, Winds were 30-60 KPH E--Horstman Hut 
2180 meters      -6, Winds were 30-50 KPH E--Whistler Peak
1860 meters      -3, Winds were 45-65 KPH E--Rendevous
1835 meters      -3, Winds were 15-25 KPH E--Roundhouse
1650 meters      -2, trace of new snow, trace in 24 hrs, 350 cm Base, RH 84%  --Pig Alley
1550 meters      -2, trace of new snow, trace in 24 hrs, 258 cm Base, RH 82%  --Catskinner 
  660 meters     +4, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +11.5, 1.4 mm of Precip recorded yest

    As of 06:30 Hrs we have overcast skies, unlimited visibility and it is snowing lightly.

FORECAST:

A low pressure system to the South will slowly move through the are today in a Southerly flow aloft.
The FL will hover in the 1400 meter range dropping this evening to 900 meters. We can expect overcast skies with light precipitation into this evening. There is a chance of a break this evening.
Another frontal band is expected on Thursday with cool showery weather, the FL will again spike to 1500 meters and drop back to 900 meters. The precipitation from this spring weather pattern will diminish Friday and Saturday but continue to be mostly overcast with intermittent showers. A short wave ridge builds for Sunday for a nice Easter day but will be quickly replaced by another upper low to our South.
Guesstimates: 10-15 cm by Thursday morning, maybe closer to 18; 8-12 cm by Friday morning,
4-6 cm by Saturday morning, trace-2 cm by Sunday morning.

    INFORMATION & OBSERVATIONS:

    Cornice control on Bushrat. There is a lot of debris in most of the bowls.

           Great snow early Tuesday morning.

    Eventually the snow on solar aspects became moist.

    Point releases on Blackcomb Peak.

    Jump site in 7Th Heaven.
