    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    Yesterday AC produced up to Sz 1.5. Some Sz 1 natural avalanches were observed locally.



    YESTERDAY:

    Light snowfall in the valley Wednesday morning. Max gust at 1835 m yest was 70 KPH at 15:15.

    Wind and snowfall picked up later in the morning. Max gust at 2180m was 96 KPH at 13:45 Hrs.

    Base two received 26 cm during the day.

    Valley just before dusk, snow had eased off. FL did not rise yesterday, high was -8.1.


Weather Observations for December 29, 2017 taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters      -6, Winds were 25-40 KPH S  --Whistler Peak
1835 meters      -4, Winds were 10-20 KPH SE--Roundhouse
1660 meters      -5, 2 cm of new, 18 cm in 24 hrs  Base 176 cm --Pig Alley
  660 meters      -8, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was -8.1, 13.0 mm of precip recorded yest


   As of 07:00 hrs this am we have broken cloud, variable visibility and it is snowing very lightly.


FORECAST:

A low pressure off the coast will strengthen as the day proceeds with light snowfall starting this am increasing to heavy snowfall by tonight. The front will bring strong winds in a Westerly flow aloft and the freezing level will remain near surface. The system will exit the province to the South on Saturday with lingering cloud in the morning before the high pressure builds with dry weather expected to persist into the New Year. The high will weaken Monday with mostly cloudy skies but rebounds again on Tuesday.
Guesstimates: 25-35 cm by Saturday morning-if everything lines up we may get a bit more. Trace -2 cm by Sunday morning.

    INFORMATION & OBSERVATIONS:

    Dec 28- 06:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs Pig Alley received 16 cm of new & Catskinner weather plot 15 cm.

    Best visibility was below treeline.

    Valley got more snow than mid mountain.

    26 cm fell at Base 2 on Wednesday, by 16:00 hrs.
