    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    Locally, AC produced minimal results. Sz 1 Sc Xe. Cornice control produced Sz 2 debris.


    YESTERDAY:

    Early Monday morning.

    Convective flurries at times.

    Some large holes moved through most of the day.

    Unsettled conditions.

    Near the end of the day. Sunset yesterday was at 17:50 hrs.


    Monday Afternoon.

    Not much happening Monday afternoon.


Weather Observations for February 28, 2018  taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters   -9, Winds were 35-50 KPH SE--Whistler Peak
1835 meters   -8, Winds were 15-25 KPH SE --Roundhouse
1660 meters   -6, 2 cm of new, 6 cm in 24 hrs  Base 296 cm --Pig Alley
  660 meters   -1, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +3.4, 2.2 mm of precip recorded yest

    As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have overcast skies, limited visibility, and it is snowing.


FORECAST:

A front is moving down the coast today in a Westerly flow aloft with overcast skies and light precipitation. The FL may rise to 1000 meters but likely to remain just above surface. By tonight the flow will shift to Southerly with a vigorous cold front passing by our zone. Unfortunatley it will be tracking West of here but we may see some heavy snow fall by tonight.  The front will weaken Thursday morning with some light snow and overcast skies.  A cool upper low will move in for Thursday night with unsettled weather expected into the weekend.
Guesstimates: 20-40 cm by Thursday morning (still a chance the low could shift clser to our zone),
4-8 cm by Friday morning.

    Cold front pushes through tonight.

    Fronts on the coast.

    Snow showers Thursday morning.

    Becoming unsettled Thursday night.


    INFORMATION & OBSERVATIONS:

    Surface Hoar and Graupel.

    Nice snow again yesterday.

    Some features have developed significant ramps.

    Very thin sun crust on some East facing slopes below treeline.

    Snow Stake at Crystal Hut. It is wind affected!

    Catskinner plot had a base of 220 cm with 1 cm of new as of 14:30 Hrs on Tuesday.
