YESTERDAY:
Friday November 29, 2019. 13:30 Hrs. -7.5 Deg C with a 5-15 KPH North breeze.
Rumbling Glacier Friday morning.
Awesome light, looking gnarly.
Still an outflow on Howe Sound.
Ice forming on Shannon Falls. High in Squamish yesterday was + 3.6, low -3.7 .
2240 meters -7, Winds were 0-5 KPH N--Horstman Hut
FORECAST:
Arctic high continues to dominate the weather pattern with an East-Southeasterly flow aloft. The freezing level will remain below surface this am and at surface this pm. May see some high clouds later this afternoon from the low to the Southwest. Mostly cloudy on Sunday with a few breaks. Similar Monday with a few more breaks. A weak front will bring periods of light precipitation for Tuesday with the FL hovering in the 1000 meter zone. Still some discrepancies in the models, it will be nice to see some real snow.
GOES IR image from this am.
Slightly warmer today with the Arctic High still in command.
Fronts along the coast.
We will be on the edge of the weak upper low and the arctic high, likely cloudy for Sunday.
Monday, High just to the West with a low slipping down the coast from the North.

Hey Wayne, went off the resort to check out conditions today up to Whirlwind Peak and check out the new hut.
Not much below 1850m, several whoofs on W slopes above that to 2000m. Variable, mostly firm conditions due to the wind. Lots of exposed rock on both sides of Flute, just enough coverage to get down to Singing Pass, Cowboy Ridge has little snow. Rocky all around Russet Lake
Quick pit at 2150, W below Whirlwind Pass on the glacier. 80cms to the firn. 5cm fairly supportive crust at the top. 3 more hard crusts(15,25,40) below. The bottom one at 40cms came out from a compression test after 5 hits from the elbow.
Poor coverage all around, open crevasses the same(Whirlwind?) glacier on both side. Many open crevasses on Overlord Glacier on the Spearhead Traverse route.
Come for the views, not the skiing.
