May 20, 2014

Awesome morning, some high cirrus cloud and a layer of stratus above the valley floor.

Visibility yesterday was ok below 1900 meters.

Not so good above 1900 meters May 19, 2014.

    Sunset from Calistoga, California.

Lots of eating amazing food and drinking of fine wines.

Weather observations May 20, 2014, taken at 07:00 Hrs.

2240 meters       0, Winds were 10-15 KPH from the S
1860 meters     +1, Winds were 10-20 KPH from the SSE
1550 meters     +5, No new snow, Base 130 cm
660 meters     +8, Max Temp Yest was +14.2

For the forecast, we can expect unsettled weather today with sun above the valley cloud layer this morning. The stratus layer will likely lift and burn off, and there is a good chance of getting some convective cloud build up later on today. The weak ridge will flatten by tomorrow allowing onshore flow of clouds to move into our zone. Another front will move into our zone by Thursday, with the chance of some showers during the day. By Thursday night early Friday morning a cold front will bring light precipitation and cooler temperatures. The air mass for the weekend looks cool and unstable.

As of 08:30 hrs we have sunny skies in the alpine with unlimited visibility.

Satellite image tom this morning, hope the weak ridging can hold off the clouds for there day!!

Satellite image from yesterday afternoon, in there thick of it!

Big picture does not look good for the rest of the week, cloudy weather is on its way.
