    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    Locally, not much activity-Sc produced minimal Sz 1 stm Sls 0-40 cm stubborn pockets.

    Fracture line from Na slab avalanche on Friday night. Observed Saturday morning.


   YESTERDAY:

    Unsettled Sunday morning, April 2, 2017.

    5 cm of new snow.

    Did get cloudier as the morning progressed, with power flurries and graupel.

    Some nice snow to be had in Blackcomb Glacier.

    Sunday morning.

    Mostly overcast by noon.

FORECAST:

Dry sunny weather for most of the day, as an upper level ridge moves over our zone in a Northerly flow aloft. We will likely see some clouds filter in from the approaching front by tonight. The FL will spike to about 1400 meters by this afternoon, dropping back down to surface by tonight. Tuesday will see unsettled weather in the morning with increasing cloud cover during the afternoon, with a slow moving cold front arriving in the evening. Wednesday will be overcast with light to moderate precipitation and moderate winds. The front will weaken and slowly push through on Thursday.
Guesstimates: 2-6 cm by Wednesday morning, 20-30 cm by Thursday morning, 8-12 cm by Friday morning.

    High pressure strengthens for today with mostly sunny conditions.

     Frontal passage later on Tuesday, should be unsettled in the morning with increasing cloud cover.

    Low will send a series of fronts our way later in the week. Wednesday is looking juicy.

OBSERVATIONS & INFORMATION:

    Snow conditions were quite nice on Sunday.

    Graupel storm with all the convective activity.

Hey so Whistler/Vail offered me a backcountry only pass for next season yesterday!! $299+ tax. It gives you single lift access to the backcountry on either Whistler or Blackcomb! Super stoked on this! Apparently passes are limited so call them now if you're keen!!

    Be careful in the bowls, lots of cornice debris.

    There is a temperature crust out there.

    Excavator is slowly disappearing.
