    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    An avalanche in Kashmir has killed a skier. Story in article section.                        Net Pic

    Locally, Sz 1-1.5 soft slabs with ski cuts and explosives.


    YESTERDAY:

    Snowing in the morning. Then a dry period between frontal bands.

    Nice snow in the morning.

    Dried out for a while but strong winds deep snow!

    Cold front landed in the area in the afternoon.

    Moist and warm in the valley.

1660 meters     -3, 23 cm of new, 30 cm in 24 hrs  Base 225 cm --Pig Alley
  660 meters    +2, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +4.5, 14.8 mm of precip recorded yest

    As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have obscured skies, limited visibility and it is snowing +3 cm per hour.



FORECAST:

An upper level trough will bring periods of snow to the area today in a Southwest flow aloft. The freezing level will fluctuate slightly in the 1000-800 meter range. A quasi stationary low off the coast will send waves of precipitation and moderate/strong winds into our area today, weakening on Friday. The low will slide east Saturday with unsettled weather but likely overcast and fairly dry. Another Pacific Front will arrive Saturday night into Sunday with strong winds and moderate to heavy precipitation.
Guesstimates: 20-30 cm by Friday morning, 5-10 cm by Saturday morning, 10-15 cm by Sunday morning.

    Most of the precipitation has slid East.
