    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    An avalanche has killed a sled skier in the Methow Valley, Washington State. Story below   Net pic

    Wide spread cycle recently at or below treeline.

   No new avalanches observed in most areas. Na Sz 3 out of McBride range, Several Sz 1 from Yest.




YESTERDAY:


    Unsettled Tuesday morning.

    Blue Bird moments.

    Blackcomb Mountain.

    Looking into the toe of the Squamish Glacier.

    Ice caves in the Squamish Glacier.

    Another awesome day in the Coast Range.

    Sunny on Whistler.

    Still nice turns to be had.

    We do live in a spectacular place.

    A bit of colour at days end.


Weather Observations for March 7, 2018  taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters     -6, Winds were 10-20 KPH SW--Whistler Peak
1835 meters     -4, Winds were   5-10 KPH S    --Roundhouse
1660 meters   -10, 0 cm of new, 1 cm in 24 hrs  Base 306 cm --Pig Alley
  660 meters     -8, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +6.5, 0.0 mm of precip recorded yest

Inverted temperatures this am.

    As of 07:00 hrs we have clear skies, high cirrus to the north, and unlimited visibility.


FORECAST:

A weak ridge will bring sunny skies early this am with clouds building during the day in a Southwest flow aloft. The FL is forecasted to reach 1200 metes with day time heating this afternoon. A weak front and associated low out of the SW will bring some precipitation to the area on Thursday. the freezing level may go as high as 1500 meters during the fronts passage.  The high rebounds for Friday afternoon with some unsettled weather. We can expect the ridge to strengthen over the weekend with mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures. The FL could go up as high as 1800 meters on Sunday.
Guesstimates: 1-3 cm by Thursday morning, 5-25 cm by Friday morning (looks like the low will bring most of the precip South of here but we may get lucky), trace-2 cm by Saturday morning.
