    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    No new avalanches were observed locally yesterday.

    Several injured after avalanche hits car in Switzerland. Story below.                           Blick Image

    Looking like a nice Gaper Day.


    YESTERDAY:

    Early Sunday morning. Some who were early got some decent turns before it started raining.

    Visibility on the hill yesterday was difficult.

    Large group of sightseers under Excelerator Lift.

    Visibility at 2240 meters. Very moist at times yesterday morning.

    Dried out later in the day but still cloudy.  16:30 Hrs.

    Unsettled in the evening.

    Ended up being an awesome evening in the valley.

    Sunday afternoon.



Weather Observations for May 21, 2018  taken at 06:00 Hours.

2240 meters    +3, Winds were 0-5 KPH N     --Horstman Hut
1860 meters    +3, Winds were 0-5 KPH ESE--Rendevous
1550 meters    +2, 0 cm of new snow, 0 cm in 24 hrs  Base 120 cm --Catskinner
  660 meters    +9, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +17.2, 2.4 mm of precip recorded yest

    As of 07:00 hrs yhis am we have clear skies above 1700 meters with unlimited visibility.


FORECAST:

Unsettled weather as  an upper level ridge begins to build into the area in a Northwest flow aloft.
The FL will go up to 3600 meters by the end of the day. We will see the lingering cloud from yesterdays trough eventually dissipate and should see sunny skies later this morning. Ridge strengthens for Tuesday and it looks like it will be an awesome week for biking, hiking, and anything else you want to do in Whistler. May post tomorrow but its been a long season and time to take a rest from this morning ritual.
