FROM AVALANCHE CANADA:

Travel and Terrain Advice

Carefully evaluate steep lines for wind slabs.

A crust on the surface will help bind the snow together, but may make for tough travel conditions.

Use ridges or ribs to avoid areas of wind loaded snow.
