   No new avalanche control on Whistler Tuesday am, ski cutting produced Sz 1 soft storm slabs in pm.



      No new avalanches observed on Blackcomb Tuesday am, Sc Sz 1's soft storm slabs in the pm.


      WEATHER YESTERDAY:

      Sunrise Tuesday was at 06:27 Hrs. -7 Deg C with a 5-15 KPH South wind at 1860 m. S-1.

      08:00 Hrs. -6 Deg C with a 10-20 KPH ESE wind at 1835 m. S-1

  660 meters     -2, Valley Temp, Max temp Yesterday was +4.5, 4.3 mm of precip yesterday.



     As of 06:00 Hrs, 11.7 mm in precip gauge, 8 cm of new snow. Base 280 cm.

      As of 07:00 Hrs we have clear skies and unlimited visibility.



FORECAST:

A ridge of high pressure will bring sunny skies for today in an Easterly transitioning to a Northeasterly flow aloft. The FL is below surface this am and may go higher than 1500 m today with daytime heating. FL should drop back down below surface tonight. A weak frontal band arrives for Thursday with an impulse of moisture in the am. Unsettled later in the pm with a mix of sun and cloud. Dirty ridging brings a mix of sun and cloud for Friday. Weak frontal band arrives Saturday with light precipitation, the front becomes more vigorous Sunday with wet, warm, windy weather. Slowly dries out Monday with periods of light precipitation. Dirty ridging for  Tuesday. Guesstimates: 0 cm by Thursday am, 1-4 cm by Friday am, trace -2 cm by Saturday am, 8-12 cm by Sunday am, 25-40 cm by Monday am.

    Weak front on Thursday, mixed bag with mostly overcast skies, some sunny breaks and flurries.

       Some very light precipitation for Thursday.



           Dirty ridging for Friday with a mix of sun and cloud.


      Dries out Friday with a dirty ridge.



                 Low will send an upper trough with precipitation on Saturday into Sunday.

      Light precipitation on Saturday.


      Light/moderate precipitation on Sunday.



      INFORMATION AND OBSERVATIONS:

      08:15 Upload Tuesday am.

      Snowing in the valley in the am.


      Periods of moderate snowfall Tuesday am.


      Breaks in the valley at 12:30 Hrs.

      Snow line was down to 750 m.

     Cornices become troublesome in April.


      Challenging visibility in the alpine, there were a few nice mid day breaks.

      You can always find nice tracks somewhere!


      Blown in on Fallers Pillow.



       Convective cloud development brought some graupel for the pm.

      Snowing 5 cm per hour for an hour. 


      Unsettled 15 minutes later.

Travel and Terrain Advice

Be alert to conditions that change with elevation and sun exposure.

Avoid sun exposed slopes when the solar radiation is strong, especially if snow is moist or wet

Be careful with wind slabs, especially in steep, unsupported and/or convex terrain features.

Use extra caution around cornices: they are large, fragile, and can trigger slabs on slopes below.
