For the forecast, westerly flow with a moist unstable airmass will move through by later today with showers expected this morning. The trough, with cloudy conditions will move eastward later and leave unsettled conditions for this afternoon. Another trough is expected to track south of our area tomorrow with mostly unsettled conditions into Thursday, a very weak ridge will bring some sunny breaks in a Westerly flow. Yet another trough is expected for Thursday evening into Friday with showers and mostly cloudy skies. This pattern will continue into the weekend and as of now we may have an upper level ridge build for early next week.

660 meters        +8, Valley Temperature, Max Temp Yest +21

For the forecast the weak upper level ridge will give us another nice day with increasing high cloud moving in as the day progresses. A Southwesterly flow aloft should also bring some warmer temperatures. Early Monday morning is also looking nice, but a weak front will move into the area with cloudy skies and some precipitation expected late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Unsettled weather will follow later on Tuesday, Wednesday into Thursday as a weak low remains in the area with low level onshore flow. Cooler temperatures can also be expected during this period. All the models are in disagreement to what happens later in the week, so more on that in the next post.

As of 07:30 this am we have scattered cloud moving in from the South with unlimited visibility.

For the forecast, the cold front has passed over our area, (-1.5 at 210 meters at 05:00 Hrs) with unsettled conditions to follow for today into Saturday as a very weak ridge establishes some dominance in the area. Today we can expect some sunny breaks, cloud, and a slight chance of some precipitation.  A westerly flow will bring warmer and drier conditions for Saturday.  The ridge will strengthen for Sunday bringing sunnier conditions. The strong upper level low to the North can still spin cloud into the area, likely see some cloud with unsettled conditions for Monday. As of now a weak trough may slide into the zone on Tuesday with cloudy conditions and a chance of some showers. The high may rebound slightly on Wednesday bringing dry warm conditions.

As of 06:00 Hrs this am we have low and mid layer cloud with unlimited visibility.

Still a chance of some moist clouds to move into our area later this morning.

Looking like a warm dry day for Sunday!!

1550 meters        +6, No snow left
660 meters        +8, Valley Temperature, Max Temp Yest +16, Precip Yest 4.1 mm.

For the forecast, the upper level low to the South is moving Eastward and we should see a nice day with mainly sunny skies as a high pressure builds into Wednesday with an associated Northerly flow. Another weak frontal system is forecasted to move in for Thursday evening into Friday with unsettled weather. Thursday evening looks to be the wettest period. Another ridge of high pressure should bring a nice dry weekend with warmer temperatures. Saturday could be unsettled with more sun by Sunday. Models are in disagreement as to the amount of moisture moving our way for Thursday and Friday.

As of 06:30 this am, low level cloud should rise and dissipate.

Upper level low will move East today allowing for the ridge of high pressure into our zone.

June 15, 2014

Early Friday morning, another awesome day in the mountains.

A rogue cell did move in from the North with thunder and lightning June 13, 2014.

It moved in from the ice cap then headed East over the top of Blackcomb.

Moved slightly South to Garabaldi lake then Northeast.

Two hours after the activity it was unsettled.

660 meters       +9, Valley Temperature, Max Temp Yest +15

Weather stations at 2240 meters and 1860 meters on Blackcomb stopped on Friday at 15:15 Hours just after a strike near the peak.

The forecast has brought us another cloudy day as a trough passes through our area. Mostly cloudy conditions, a few breaks with isolated showers can be expected in a Westerly flow. The flow will shift to Northwesterly by tomorrow bringing another trough with a few more breaks. The cool unstable air mass has the potential for some more lightning activity tomorrow, with unsettled conditions. A very weak ridge is expected for Tuesday with mostly sunny skies and convective cloud development. The remainder of the week is looking unsettled with cooler temperatures than we have been experiencing. The freezing level tonight could drop to 1800 meters.

1550 meters        +7, Snow depth, melting quickly
660 meters      +11, Valley Temperature, Max Temp Yest +21, Precip Yest .5 mm.

Full moon tonight, sometimes referred to as the Strawberry Moon.

For the forecast, the low is certainly keeping us drier than forecasted 2 days ago. The deep upper low to the South of our zone continues to spin moisture and some areas are getting moderate precipitation from the NorthEasterly flow. Another weak level trough is expected for tomorrow followed by a series of weak troughs into Monday. This unsettled weather pattern will continue into early next week. There has been little confidence with the inconsistencies in the various model runs. As of now it looks to  warm up and dry out by Tuesday?? The cool and relatively moist pattern will give us cloud, sunny breaks and the chance of showers over the weekend. At this rate we could have a very dry June. The mix of high pressure and low pressure certainly brings unsettled conditions.

Image from 07:00 Hrs this am, Mid and High clouds with unlimited visibility.

Low is just South of our zone.

Still a chance of some precipitation according to the GFS for today. Looks nice to the West.

Another unsettled day for Saturday, the weak high pressure seems to continue to give us breaks.
