    Another beauty morning Monday April 20, 2015.

    08:00 Hours on Whistler Monday morning. Lots of snow in the alpine!!

    Clouds over Wedge around 17:00 Hours yesterday.

    Just after sunset Monday evening.

    As of 06:30 Hours this am we have broken cloud and unlimited visibility.


Weather Observations for April 21, 2015; taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters     +2, Winds were 20-25 KPH from the SSW
1835 meters     +5, Winds were 15-25 KPH from the S
1650 meters     +4, No new snow, Base 179 cm, relative humidity is 70 %

  660 meters     +4, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +22.5. Trace of precip recorded on Monday.

For the forecast, cool marine air and cloud will slowly move onshore this morning in a West Northwest flow aloft, with an upper trough and cold front arriving later in the day.  The freezing level will begin to descend to around 1800 meters this evening in a Southwesterly flow aloft. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with some intermittent light rain and the FL rising to 1800 meters and dropping to 1200 meters by the evening.  Another frontal band will arrive for Thursday with mostly cloudy skies and the possibility of some light precipitation, with a cooler day (FL 1600 - 1000 meters). Could see a break in the flow Thursday evening into Friday morning with unsettled conditions. Another weak frontal band will push through on Friday afternoon with the chance of some very light precipitation and a FL ranging from a high of 1600 metes to a low of 1200 meters. At this time Saturday morning is looking unsettled with a more active frontal band moving in for the evening. Guesstimates 3-5 cm of snow by Wednesday morning above 1700 meters.

    Clouds began to develop early this morning as the slow moving front moves down the coast.

    Clouds moved in early this am.

    Light precipitation will arrive this afternoon into this evening.

    Cloudy for Wednesday with the chance of some light intermittent showers.

    There will be breaks in the pattern mid week.

    Unsettled conditions for most of the week.

    Saturday night into Sunday will likely be cloudy and wet.

    Early Sunday morning April 19, 2015--Last day for some great conditions on Blackcomb.

    Dry winter snow conditions on the Horstman Glacier. Spring conditions on Southerly slopes.

    Evidence of small point releases.

    Last day for easy access into the Blackcomb side of the Spearhead.

   A recent slab avalanche near Hourglass Peak in Garibaldi Park.

Weather Observations for April 20, 2015; taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters     +4, Winds were 10-15 KPH from the SE
1835 meters     +5, Winds were calm?
1650 meters     +4, No new snow, Base 182 cm.. 

  660 meters     +2, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +21.2.

    As of 07:00 Hours this am we have sunny skies, unlimited visibility and some broken cirrus cloud.


For the forecast, the ridge of high pressure aloft will give us one more day of dry sunny weather in a Westerly Flow aloft with freezing levels rising to 2800 meters today. The ridge will shift East early Tuesday morning and usher in some cooler marine air and cloud to the area Tuesday afternoon. We can expect typical spring weather for the remainder of the week as several Pacific frontal bands move onto the coast. The front on Tuesday with the associated cold front will bring cloud to the area moving onshore in the evening. The FL should drop to about 1500 meters by Wednesday morning, cloudy conditions will prevail for Wednesday with some light intermittent rain during the day. A very weak ridge tries to build for Wednesday evening into Thursday morning with unsettled conditions. Another cloudy day by Thursday afternoon remaining that way into Friday. A stronger front is  expected for Saturday into Sunday.  The FL will range from highs of 1700-1800 meters to lows of 1200-1400 meters through this time period, so we can expect light snow in the alpine.

    High is still pushing frontal bands to the North.

   This front will slip down the coast tomorrow bringing cloudy conditions and light precipitation.

    Cloudy and moist for Wednesday.

    Some breaks Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

    Frontal wave should aerie Thursday afternoon.

   Looking wetter over the weekend.

    Sunrise Saturday April 18, 2015 was at 06:13 Hours.

    Another amazing morning in Whistler.

    Today is the last day for Blackcomb for the 2014-2015 season!! Excellent conditions in the alpine.

    Hard to believe there was a ski out at the beginning of April.

    Probably good room rates after today at the Chateau.

   There were some cirrus clouds in the area later in the day.

    Sunset Saturday evening was at 20:09 Hours.

  660 meters     +1, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +18.9.Trace of precip recorded on Sat.

Normal maximum temperature for this time of the year is +12. Today sunrise is officially at 06:11 hours-Sunset is at 20:11 Hours. 14 Hours of daylight , get out there and enjoy it!!

    As of 07:00 Hours this am we have sunny skies with some scattered cirrus cloud and unlimited vis.



For the forecast, the high pressure aloft will continue to bring warm sunny weather into Monday night in a Northwesterly flow aloft. We may see some high cirrus cloud in the area again today and Monday. The high will migrate East on Monday evening allowing some marine moisture and associated cloud to move in for Tuesday in a Southerly flow aloft. We can expect unsettled conditions for the remainder of the week as a weak cold front and several troughs move through the zone with light spring showers. At this time Thursday could be the cloudiest day and we may see cooler temperatures than we have been experiencing. Freezing levels will remain near and above the local peaks for most of the week, dropping to around 1800 meters on Thursday.

    High pressure remains until Tuesday.

    Some moisture to the North.

    Clouds will slowly roll in on Tuesday.

    Unsettled for Wednesday.
