Weather Observations for May 2, 2016: taken at 06:00 Hours.

2240 meters      +3, Winds were  20-30 KPH SSE --Horstman Hut
1860 meters      +6, Winds were  10-15 KPH SE    --Rendevous
1550 meters      +7, 0 cm of new snow, 0 cm in 24 hrs, 177 cm Base, RH 50%  --Catskinner
  660 meters      +4, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +25.9. 0.0 mm of Precip recorded yest


   As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have clear skies and unlimited visibility.




For the forecast, high pressure aloft will bring more dry and warm weather for today. The FL will hover in the 3000 meter level.  Tuesday will see a shift with Southerly flow aloft with a chance of isolated showers and cooler temperatures. Wednesday will also be moist and slightly unstable in a Southerly flow aloft.  A split flow for Thursday with unsettled weather. The ridge will build again for Friday into next weekend.


    One more day of warm dry weather for today. Ridge will begin to migrate East.

    Should see some cloud in the area by tonight.

    Weather for Tuesday-Wednesday. Moist Southerly flow aloft.

1550 meters      +4, 0 cm of new snow, 0 cm in 24 hrs, 180 cm Base, RH 59%  --Catskinner
  660 meters      +3, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +19.8. 0.0 mm of Precip recorded yest

Should be soft from the get go today with the warm alpine temperatures.

    As of 07:00 Hrs we have high scattered cloud and unlimited visibility.


For the forecast, the upper level ridge will prevail over the area into Monday with warm temperatures due to the low level offshore flow. On Monday night the flow will switch back to onshore with a low pressure system bringing some cloud and moist air back into our zone. Tuesday will see an upper trough push into the area with an increase in clouds and the possibility of some showers. The trough will bring overcast conditions to the area on Wednesday into Thursday. The ridge will likely rebuild by Friday. The FL will remain in the 3200+ range into Tuesday, by Wednesday we should see it drop to around 2500 meters.


    High strengthens for today.

    Should be a very warm day.

    High again for Monday

    Flow for Sunday into Wednesday.

    Mostly cloudy in the morning with some nice breaks over Blackcomb.


    Some people parked at Base 2 and walked to the Solar.

   Very cloudy in the mountains in the afternoon. Unsettled on Blackcomb for most of the day.


    Just before evening the clouds began to dissipate.

  660 meters     +2, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +15.5. 0.0 mm of Precip recorded yest

    As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have broken cloud and unlimited visibility.




For the forecast, a strong upper ridge will bring dry warm weather to the area for the weekend into Monday. A low level Northerly flow for today with the FL hovering around 3000 meters by the afternoon. There are some high clouds and valley cloud moving in from the North,  which should dissipate by this afternoon. The ridge strengthens for Sunday with warmer temperatures and a FL in excess of 3500 meters. Monday will also be hot and Sunny. There is a good chance of an upper trough moving into the area for Tuesday/Wednesday with a moist Southerly flow. Be sure to use sunscreen.
