Weather Observations for May 30, 2016: taken at 07:00 Hours.

2240 meters      0, Winds were 5-10 KPH S   --Horstman Hut
1860 meters      0, Winds were  0-5  KPH SE --Rendevous
1550 meters    +1, 0 cm of new snow, 4 cm in 24 hrs, 102 cm Base, RH 87%
  660 meters    +4, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +16.4. 0.6 mm of Precip recorded test

   As of 08:00 Hrs this am we have scattered cloud and unlimited visibility.



For the forecast, a strong upper level ridge will build over the region today into Wednesday, in a Northwesterly flow aloft. As of now a weak front may affect the zone on  Wednesday with an increase in cloud, overcast and showers for Thursday/Friday but the high should rebuild as soon as the front passes through. Warm temperatures will return with the FL reaching 3000+ meters by Monday evening. Enjoy the nice weather!!

    Raining lightly in the valley Saturday morning, May 29, 2016. That changed to moderate.

    Snowing lightly at 1860 meters Saturday morning. Snow fall intensity picked up during the day.

    Snowing at 680 meters Saturday afternoon. 13 cm fell at 1550 meters from 09:00-14:00 Hours.

    Snowing 1 cm per hour at 14:00 Hours.

    As of 08:00 Hrs this am we have overcast skies and variable/obscured visibility.



For the forecast, the low is on a slow exit to the East as a strong upper level ridge begins to build in a Northwesterly flow aloft. Overcast with showers this morning with the slow departure of the low brings mostly cloudy conditions until later in the day. The ridge strengthens for Monday with mostly sunny dry conditions into Thursday, with a Northerly flow developing by Tuesday. Warm temperatures will return for Wednesday as a thermal trough allows for onshore flow.

    By 18:30 Hours it was overcast with some dark clouds!!

1550 meters     -1, 2 cm of new snow, 0 cm in 24 hrs, 94 cm Base, RH 100%
  660 meters    +5, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +12.7. 0.0 mm of Precip recorded yest

2.5 mm of precipitation was measured at 1550 meters in the past 12 hours.



    As of 08:00 Hrs this am we have overcast skies, variable visibility and it is snowing lightly.

    In the valley we have light rain.


For the forecast, cool upper level low will bring light to moderate precipitation to the area in a Westerly flow aloft. The FL will fluctuate from 1500 to 1700 meters for today with 10-15 cm of snow expected by this evening above 1500 meters. The trough should migrate East  by Sunday morning with unsettled conditions in its wake as a strong upper level ridge builds into the area. The ridge will bring warm dry conditions to the area for Monday into Thursday. The FL should rise back up to the 3500+ range by Wednesday. Another upper level trough is forecasted for later in the week, more on that at a later date.


    Cool moist flow will bring snow to the upper elevations for today.

    Westerly flow aloft.


    Trough should exit stage left by early Sunday morning, with some lingering cloud.

    Dries out by Sunday.

    High pressure for Monday.


    Nice weather into Wednesday.
