    Saturday morning September 16, 2017.

    Sunday morning September 17, 2017. Overcast but no rain yet.

    Eventually, rain and snow with cooler temperatures on Sunday. 9.7 mm recorded at 660 meters.

    Started snowing below 1800 meters on Sunday.

    Monday morning September 18, 2017.

    Tuesday morning September 19, 2017. How quickly it melts!!

    Wednesday morning September 20, 2017. More snow!!

    Early Thursday September 21, 2017. Sunrise was at 06:57 Hrs.

    As of 07:00 Hrs we have clear skies and unlimited visibility.


FORECAST:

A weak upper level ridge will bring mostly sunny skies for today in a Northerly flow aloft. We can expect slightly warmer temperatures for today into Saturday, but with this northerly flow we can expect to see some clouds push through and unsettled weather for Saturday afternoon into Monday. The ridge should slowly rebuild for Tuesday and strengthen by Wednesday into Thursday.


    High to the Northwest, low to the Southeast.

    Flow for today.

    Friday at noon.


    Flow for the next few days.

    Clouds will push in from the North for Saturday.

    Another battle of the High and Low.

    Unsettled for Monday, but likely a warm front will push through.

    High has some influence on Monday.

Monday September 25, 2017 Update:

Low is pushing a warm front through the area today with light precipitation in a Northwest flow aloft. The ridge will push back Tuesday and strengthen Wednesday and Thursday for mostly sunny warm weather. The low will send some weak frontal bands through Friday into the weekend with unsettled fall weather.

    Warm frontal band for today.

    Light spotty precipitation.

    High rebuilds Tuesday and slowly shifts East by Friday.

   Weak Front slides in on Friday.

    Looks wet Sunday afternoon/evening into Monday as the low passes through..




    OBSERVATIONS & INFORMATION:

    Saturday on the Sunshine Coast, a few clouds but an awesome day.

    Mount Garibaldi Saturday evening.

    Sunday morning, mostly cloudy.

    Iceberg Lake below Rainbow Glacier.

    Snow line at the bottom of 7 Th Heaven Chair.

   Saturday morning. 2240 meters. +3 at 07:00 Hrs.

    Monday morning. 2240 meters -4 at 07:00 Hrs. 5.8 mm recorded at 660 meters. (Nester's)

    Tuesday still snow on Northerly slopes. 3.8 mm recorded at 660 meters.

    Unsettled Tuesday but enough heat to melt some of the new snow!

    Wednesday morning looking like winter. 3.6 mm recorded at 660 meters.

    Tantalus range on Wednesday afternoon.

    Cloudy Wednesday afternoon, temperature went up to +3 by 15:30 hours at 1835 Meters.

    Thursday afternoon, busy day in the park. Max temp in the valley was +16.

    Moist day Saturday September 9, 2017. 4.0 mm recorded at 660 meters.


    Sunday morning September 10, 2017. Mostly cloudy, unsettled all day.

    Sunday, bottom of 7 Th Heaven.

    Early Monday morning September 11, 2017.



    Cheakamus Lake Monday afternoon.

    Tuesday morning September 12, 2017. Very cloudy in the am.

    By mid Tuesday morning a much nicer day. Eventually most of the cloud dissipated by days end.

    Early Wednesday morning, September 13, 2017. Sunrise was at 06:45 Hrs.

    Wednesday morning was cool. -1 at 2240 meters at 07:00 Hrs. +2 at 1860 meters.

    Thursday morning September 14, 2017.

    Temperatures dipping down into - territory, low of -1.7 recorded early Thursday am at 2240M.

    Evening light Thursday.

    As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have clear skies and unlimited visibility.


FORECAST:

An offshore high will bring dry sunny weather into Saturday with a Northerly Flow aloft. Will likely see  some clouds in the mix for Saturday. The ridge will begin to break down on Sunday allowing a low pressure system to push through on Sunday and Monday. The upper trough on Sunday and Monday will bring wet conditions to the area with a cold front, and the freezing level dropping to below the highest peaks in our area. We will likely get our first dusting in the alpine for the 2017/18 season. A Northwest flow aloft will bring unsettled weather to the area Tuesday into Thursday. Wednesday has the potential to see the most showers.  Looking like a fall weather pattern for the Autumnal Equinox which is officially on September 22, 2017 at around 13:02 Hours.

    High pressure for today in a Northerly Flow aloft.


    Bluebird for today.

    Should see some cloud development on Saturday as the ridge shifts East.

    Deep low for Sunday into Monday.

    Chance the front will push through quickly on Monday.

    Trough will remain in the area Tuesday into Thursday.


Monday September 18, 2017 Update:

Upper trough will bring unsettled weather to the area in a Westerly flow aloft. Fall like weather with cooler temperatures, a mix of sun and cloud with the chance of some showers. Flow will likely shift on Thursday with a drier Northerly flow aloft into Friday. Snow in the mountains today with -4 recorded at 2240 meters, -2 at 1860 meters, and 0 Deg at 1550 meters as of 07:00 Hrs this am. 9.7 mm of precip recorded at 660 meters on Sunday.

    Great day for downhilling on Sunday.

    Dry weather has prompted some leaves to fall early. Monday September 11, 2017.

    Whistler Mountain Tuesday afternoon.

    Ipsoot Glacier.

    A mix of sun and cloud Wednesday, high in the valley was +19.2. Mount Fee


    High pressure Thursday.

    Another summer of rapid glacier melt.

After 8 months of working on organising an Avalanche Awareness Conference in Whistler for October 28, 2017 I had to pull the pin. Sadly, I could not get enough Industry or Government support to have such an event in Whistler. To all those who did support the effort, Thank You Very Much.
I feel that this type of event is very important and I will continue to try to make it happen for the fall of 2018. If anyone has any ideas or can put me in touch with companies that may be willing to help make this a reality it would be much appreciated.
