    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    Long glide cracks top left. No new avalanche activity noted locally yesterday.

    Castle Towers & Mount Garibaldi.

    The Tusk and Tantalus Range.

    Great day to be skiing/boarding with your Mom.

    High cirrus cloud moved in later in the day.

    Just before sunset.

    Sunset was at 20:48 Hrs. We are gaining 3 minutes of daylight per day presently.

2240 meters    +8, Winds were 25-35 KPH SE--Horstman Hut
1860 meters    +9, Winds were 15-20 KPH SE--Rendevous
1550 meters    +9, 0 cm of new snow, 0 cm in 24 hrs  Base 160 cm --Catskinner
  660 meters    +6, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +29.0, 0.0 mm of precip recorded yest

   As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have high scattered cirrus cloud and unlimited visibility.


FORECAST:

The upper ridge will bring another warm sunny day in a Northerly flow aloft. We can expect some high thin cloud in the area today with the FL reaching 4000 meters. Flow aloft may shift to Westerly later in the day. The ridge is expected to flatten on Tuesday evening with cloud moving in from the Southwest. An upper low to our South will bring increasing cloud cover and the chance of some precipitation Wednesday night into Thursday. Models are not in agreement for next weekend so more on that later.

    In the past week the snow pack has shrunken from 195 cm May 6-163 cm May 13. 32 cm in 7 days.

Great conditions Friday, May 12 on Mamquam. Solid overnight freeze made for fast travel to the summit. Corn was perfect on south aspects around 10:30

    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    Recent cornice induced wet slab avalanche near Blacktusk.                             Cliff Jennings Image

    Locally, no new avalanches observed, but there were some fresh cornice and pillow drops.



    YESTERDAY:

    Early Saturday morning, some cloud to the Southwest.

    Stellar Day!!!

    Thought there would be more action on the Tantalus Range.

    The roads are moving uphill quickly.

    As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have clear skies and unlimited visibility.

FORECAST:

The upper ridge will bring sunny warm weather to the area today in a Northerly flow aloft. The FL could go as high as 4000 meters today, with record breaking temperatures a possibility. We could see a brief change on Wednesday into Thursday as a brief moist onshore push could bring some clouds and the chance of some isolated showers. The ridge appears to build again for Friday into next weekend.
