    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    Sz 2 slab from natural cornice release noted yesterday likely happened on Wednesday afternoon.

    Locally, no new avalanche activity observed yesterday.


    YESTERDAY:

    Early Thursday morning, fresh dusting at 2180 meters.

    Sunrise was at 05:33 Hrs.

    Thursday morning, 09:50 Hours.

    Cumulus and cumulus nimbus, frequent showers in the morning.

    Low level cumulus clouds mid day.

    Cloud lifted and dissipated as the day progressed.

    Later in the afternoon, high in the valley was +

  660 meters    +2, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +14.9, 0.2 mm of precip recorded yest


   As of 07:00 hrs this am we have clear skies and unlimited visibility.


FORECAST:

The upper ridge has moved into the zone with a few lingering clouds in a Northeasterly flow aloft. The FL will rise to 3200 meters by the end of the day. Ridge strengthens tomorrow with warmer temperatures, the FL could go as high as 3800 meters. Looking nice into at least Thursday with sunny weather. Get out the sun screen!! Guesstimates: no precipitation in the near future.

INFORMATION & OBSERVATIONS:

    There were some nice breaks in the morning before convective clouds brought in some showers.

    09:50 hrs, Temp -1 at 1835 meters. No chairs left on the Emerald. Rain Showers and snow flurries..

   By 20:00 hrs no more cable on the Emerald.

    By Thursday evening the ridge was building.

   Just after sunset on Thursday, clouds have gone away!!

    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    An avalanche in Gangotfri National Park, India has buried a porter. Story in article section. Net Pic

    No new avalanches observed locally.

    Wednesday afternoon, certainly can see where the avalanches have occured over the past 2 weeks.


    YESTERDAY:

    Early Wednesday morning.

    Obscured in the am at 2240 meters.

    Breaks by 11:00 Hrs with rain showers.

    Clouds lifted in the afternoon.

    Breaks mid day.

    Unsettled later in the afternoon.

    Unsetled Wednesday evening.

    Wednesday afternoon.

FORECAST:

An upper low and associated weak trough will bring unsettled weather in a Northerly flow aloft for today. Clouds should dissipate by tonight as the high pressure begins to build. The FL will likely rise to 2400 meters later today.  A strong upper ridge will bring sunny skies for Friday into the weekend with warmer temperatures. The ridge is expected to remain in the area into early next week. Enjoy!!
Guesstimates: trace-1 mm by Friday morning.

    AVALANCHE ACTIVITY:

    Glide cracks on Mount Davidson. No new avalanches observed locally yesterday.


    YESTERDAY:

    Some clouds to the South Tuesday morning.

    Clearer to the Northwest.

    More cloud as the day progressed.

    Looking South at around 15:00 Hrs.

    Nice day in the valley, +23 Deg C! 16:00 Hrs.

    Still a few breaks to the East at around 18:00 Hrs.

    Much darker as the front arrived at around 21:00 hrs.

    As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have overcast skies, variable visibility and it is raining lightly.


FORECAST:

The weak cold front pushed through last night with a shortwave upper trough in the area today in a Southwest flow aloft. Rain started falling at around 21:15 hrs in the Whistler area last night. The weak trough will bring periods of rain and unsettled weather to the area today. The FL last night remained above 2240 meters and is expected to drop to 1800 meters by tonight. An upper level low will move down the coast with cool showery weather expected for Thursday. An upper level ridge is forecasted for Friday and sunny weather should prevail into next week, with warm temperatures.
Guesstimates: 4-6 mm by Thursday morning (1-2 cm above 1600 meters), 1-2 mm by Friday morning,
0 mm by Saturday morning.
