    Rumbling Glacier Friday morning.

    Sea to Sky corridor Friday afternoon, blue skies and warm temperatures.

    Nice light Friday evening.


Weather Observations for May 9, 2015: taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters    +4, Winds were 5-10 KPH from the S
1835 meters    +7, Winds were 5-10 KPH from the SE
1650 meters    +4, No new snow, Base 156 cm, relative humidity is 46%
  660 meters    +3, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +22.6.

   As of 07:00 Hours this am at 1835 meters we have some high overcast and unlimited visibility.


For the forecast, we can expect some cloud development this morning, warm temperatures and mostly sunny as the strong upper level ridge remains  in the area. The upper level flow will shift to onshore for Sunday with unsettled conditions during the day leading to overcast skies in the afternoon with light rain. A series of lows will brush the area next week with unsettled to cloudy skies, cooler temperatures and showery weather. Monday looks to be the cloudiest day with a fairly moist system. Another low will bring cloudier skies on Tuesday with moderate rain Tuesday evening. Wednesday will likely be unsettled.


    Onshore flow will begin to increase tomorrow.

    Warmer temperatures as the surface thermal trough moves through.

    Strong upper level ridge.

    Clouds will be in the area by Sunday afternoon.

    Light to moderate rain for Monday.

    Low will be in the area Tuesday, could be wetter Tuesday evening.

    Unsettled for Wednesday with light rain showers.

Weather Observations for May 8, 2015: taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters      0, Winds were 20-45 KPH from the SW
1835 meters    +2, Winds were 10-20 KPH from the E
1650 meters    +3, No new snow, Base 160 cm, relative humidity is 67%
  660 meters    +1, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +20.2.

    As of 07:00 Hours at 1835 meters we have clear skies and unlimited visibility.


For the forecast, the upper level ridge will strengthen today with the freezing level reaching close to 3000 meters later today in a dry Northerly flow aloft. The ridge will dominate into the weekend but the low to the North may spins some cloud our way for Saturday and Sunday. Freezing levels will be above the local peaks for most of this time period.  Nice weather into Monday morning may be replaced by a an upper level trough bringing cooler and showery conditions into the middle of next week.

    Ridge is well established over our area.

     High pressure expanding today.

    Low will spin some cloud at us by Saturday afternoon. Surface thermal trough moving East.

     Clouds will move in on Sunday for unsettled conditions.

    Unsettled Monday with more sun in the morning, showers in the afternoon, rain by the evening.

    Unsettled for Tuesday with light rain showers and high freezing levels.

    Wednesday May 6, 2015--Clouds clinging to the mountains in the am.

    Lots of blue, another start to an awesome day.

    Clouds did lift eventually but were certainly hanging around the peaks.

    Convective development as the day progressed.

    Just before sunset last night.

2180 meters     -2, Winds were 5-10 KPH from the W
1835 meters     -1, Winds were 0-5 KPH from the E
1650 meters     -1, No new snow, Base 169 cm, relative humidity is 80%
  660 meters      0, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +15.8. 

    As of 07:00 Hrs this am we have clear skies and unlimited visibility. Some high cirrus in the area.


For the forecast, the upper level ridge just off shore will give us warm sunny conditions into Sunday. An upper trough may reach the area by Sunday with some cloud into Monday but it may move South so more on that later this weekend. Freezing levels will be above the local peaks. Enjoy the weather.

    Monday May 5, 2015- Cloudy skies with a ceiling down to about 1000 meters.

    Snow line came down to 1000 meters with pockets of wind blown snow in the alpine up to 20 cm.

    There were a few breaks in the cloud as the morning progressed.

    Convective cloud development in the afternoon with isolated showers.

    Just before sunset Monday evening.


Weather Observations for May 6, 2015: taken at 06:00 Hours.

2180 meters     -5, Winds were 25-40 KPH from the NNW
1835 meters     -2, Winds were 0-10 KPH from the S
1650 meters     -2, Trace of new snow, Base 169 cm, relative humidity is 97%
  660 meters    +1, Valley Temp, Max Temp Yesterday was +9.8. 0.6 mm recorded on Tuesday.


    As of 07:00 Hours this am we have broken skies and unlimited visibility.


For the forecast, the upper low is just Southeast of our region so it will spin some cloud at us today. A Northerly flow aloft will likely keep the cloud to a minimum with mostly sunny skies, especially by this afternoon. The upper level ridge developing in the Northwest Pacific will bring sunny skies to the area for Thursday into Sunday. The freezing level today will rise to 2200 meters and slowly increase in the next few days topping out at around 3200 meters by Saturday into Sunday. Another low pressure system may affect our area by Monday or Tuesday. Get out the sun screen.


    Some thin scattered cloud this morning.

    There is some moisture to the East but hopefully it will move Eastward.

    Thursday the ridge begins to strengthen.

    Nice looking day for Friday.

    Saturday is looking very dry. Temps likely to reach the low 20's.

    Around 18:00 Hours yesterday there were lots of showers along Hwy 99.
